He is the former President of the Jawaharlal Nehru University’s Students’ Union. Things took an unexpected turn for him in the year 2016 when he was charged with sedition over an event organized by JNU. He was arrested for apparently raising slogans against India. He was later released on bail. His name is Kanhaiya Kumar.
Decoding India is about a person’s feelings and emotions towards their country. What they feel when they think or talk about their motherland. What does the country mean to them? What comes
to their mind when someone says ‘nationalism’ or ‘patriotism’? It means different things to different people and this is what we aim to explore. Although Kanhaiya has been accused of harboring anti-national feelings, he claims otherwise and says what he was fighting for freedom of speech and expression. We talk to Kanhaiya about
what he feels about nationalism and freedom and his idea of India.
