Anjan calls RSS, BJP pseudo-nationalists over anthem row

RANCHI: Senior communist leader Atul Kumar Anjaan on Sunday reacted sharply to RSS general secretary Bhaiya Joshi's comment on national anthem and called the outfit pseudo-nationalists.
"RSS is a pseudo-nationalist organization. There is not a single example of a RSS leader being imprisoned for the independence movement. On what grounds are they saying this?" the Communist Party of India (CPI) leader said after the two-day state working committee meeting here.
Late last week Joshi had said Vande Mataram was the country's real national anthem and not Jan Gan Man because of its association with the country's independence struggle against the British Raj.
Anjan took a jibe at RSS by referring to one of its founder MS Golwalkar and his letters. "Golwakar had no serious affiliations to the country's independence and he talked of being a non-believer in the national flag. The RSS is doing the same thing now," Anjan said here.
Anjan also requested Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Union minister for Parliamentary affairs Venkaiah Naidu to convene a meeting of the opposition parties ahead of the extended budget session. "The BJP is clearly violating the 10th schedule of the Indian Constitution by attempting wrongful defections in Uttarakhand and other states. It is deliberately creating communal divide. The party needs to have a large heart to run a huge country like India," he added.
