Left to develop and build a strong social combination ---Gurudas Dasgupta

The Exit Poll suggests a clean sweep for BJP. This is a sweep for a change, particularly younger generation is impatient with the present situation. Dr. Manmohan Singh, Mr. P. Chidambaram and Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia are squarely to be blamed for the crisis that has set in affecting the livelihood of common people particularly the younger generation.

But their expectations
will not be fulfilled because the BJP, particularly Narendra Modi, has been set up by the corporates of the country collectively.

There is a need for an effective alternative based on a pro-people economic policy. How that will emerge is the question. Left is still on back-foot. But in the coming period it is essential that the vocal public opinion reflects more and more in the mass action so that through struggles a new combination can emerge. Time is ripe for all of us to think how to get out of this bipartite political system both committed to the same economic policy. I wish and pray that people will realise the danger ahead and seek to regroup the democratic forces including the Left to develop and build a strong social combination committed to serve the people and ameliorate their grievances.
